First of all, these instructions are not unique to this article. It probably won't surprise you that by Googling for YouTube installation instructions, you will be able to find a set of how to instructions instantaneously. However, by focusing for a few minutes on what I like to call generating my own steps in list form, I believe that most bloggers will find the next few paragraphs very helpful. The setting for placing a video online that I will describe is in a blog which is using WordPress. Also, I'd like to note that using WordPress is not necessary for posting a YouTube video but it does make the explanation a little easier if you have used WordPress for your blog.
You will need to have a video in mind for your blog. This may be a video that you have produced or it may be one which you have permission to use. By the way, please make sure that you have permission to use the video! Next you'll need to post that video on YouTube. If you are not a member, you'll want to sign up for a free account with YouTube. Is the membership a necessary part of accessing videos? The answer is based on whether you are producing the video yourself and looking for a free place to host the video or whether you have the capability to host the video on your website. The simpler, easier method is to post the video on YouTube as millions of users do and link to that video from within your blog.
Having decided on which video you are going to use, whether it is your YouTube posted video or someone else's with permission you will want to do the following. While viewing the video in its YouTube setting, copy the video's URL from your web browser's address bar and post it to an open notepad file. Before you proceed with pasting the video link address into your post, note whether you have the visual editor active within your edit screen within the posting screen. If you do, as noted by several folks who know, you'll want to turn that feature off for this post before copying the YouTube link into the post. Once you turn the rich text editor off for the post that you are getting ready to make using the YouTube link, all you have to do is paste the YouTube link into the post area, write whatever comments you wish to make either above or below the link and then save the post!
While this article assumed that you are familiar with WordPress, don't just rely on what I've written, explore other features that can be used to customize the size of the video, borders that can be used and so on. So get started posting those YouTube videos in your blog and have fun.
