Back when the life here on earth was still simple, most if not all people would rely on the yellow pages to gather information about businesses or other significant details that they need. One could confirm to the piles of bulky yellow pages that accumulated with the years that has passed by. Every year, there are new businesses listed. Hence, back then businesses have no other options than to spend money on yellow pages because that is their only option. So back then, small businesses were rarely listed on the yellow pages.
However, our generation these days is different. Businesses, may it be small or big, now have a lot of options on how to market or advertise. They now have a say on how to spend their hard earned money wisely. It may be through the television, radio, print or even the internet. But being the most used among the mentioned ways of advertising, the internet is the more or less the choice of many individuals and businessmen as well. With this in mind, local search marketing is born.
So you might ask, what is local search marketing? It is advertising your business on targeted areas. Not only will this make your campaign more specific, but it will lead local searches to find your business as well. With this wonderful idea in mind, you might now wonder how is this possible, right? Well, all these are possible through the help of search engines on the internet.
Let us take Google as an example. We all know how popular Google is, and in time, Google has developed several tools to help more people. One of the many Google tools is the Google Maps, this tool shows us the map of a specific location that we are searching for. This is where the local marketing comes in. Say you are looking for the best place to eat in a specific city, Google Maps will now show you a map of the city with marks of restaurants that are available. If a certain restaurant is listed with Google Places then more exact details such as telephone numbers and photos will be shown. More or less, that is how this wonderful innovation works.
With this very brilliant idea, one could not help realize why yellow pages are now getting obsolete. Who would need yellow pages when you could access more information on the internet.
